  im sure most know something about quantum physics.

  it is weird but very accurate, they say it is the most accurate theory that we have.

  it predicts mathematically how atoms will act, and what electrons and photons will do.

  Pete,

  I understand your point of view. I tend to trust sciencea great deal more than mysticism, but you have to admit that the Quantum world does make one ponder the supernatual,.. do to all its weirdness.

  My personal feelings are be open minded to a degree but not so much that your brains fall out.

  It could possibly be that those who go into trance states and manage to climb deep inside themselves have found out some interesting things about human consciousness. If evolution is still not finished evolving our brains to even more usefulness, then maybe some have tapped into this ahead of the general population. Not that we should beleive eveyones claims in this reguard, just open to possibities.

  I did some research on the net and it seems there are many slight variations of explanations on the thought experiment.

  i think as time goes on and dna gets understood better and better it will be imposible for fundamental christians to defend thier position against evolution.

  kind of like the catholic church going against galileio saying the "earth is not the center of the universe".. "eventually"(maybe not now) to fight against the evidence makes you look very stupid and under heavy mind control.. don't get me wrong i beleive there is a god, and i think he used "gradualism" to create the universe and life, i even feel the first 2 chapter of genesis are discribing a very long drawn out process that took just as evolutionist are telling us, billions of years till finally man appears.. eventually the wt is going to have to change its understanding of genesis to even stay credible..

  Elsewhere,

  I see what you are saying, it does seem like 24 hours days are being spoken of since evening and mourning are being mentioned.

  But since the basic order is right as to the creation account and what archeaologist have uncovered I tend to expect that Genesis is not speaking of 24 hour days.

  I never really seen a explanaton of the cat, I liked yours.

  Never mind that the cat is there to observe, and the equipment reacting to the particle is there to observe.

  I think in the cat experiment radioactivity is not the thing to be observed(metaphorically), but rather the cat being dead or alive is.(corresponding to the duality of electrons and photons depending on observation).

  As to God being comprehensable. I think someday he will be comprehensable. The Bible's teaching that man is supposed to be made in God's image leads me conclude that someday this will be possible.

  The way I see it God made the natural laws that make existense possible. And with a little proding from his Holy Spirit as mentioned on the first creative day would unleash the whole sequence of events that followed on all 6 creative days.

  Why some hold stubornly to six 24 hour days when the Hebrew word translated "day" can mean an undetermined lenght of time, makes no sense what so ever. Clearly this holding on to such an interpitation undermines their credibility and does more harm than good.

  The problem many have with Genesis is that they think everytime God does something it has to be done by means of an instantaneous miracle. They fail to see that God's making of precise natural laws is also a display of his creative ability. The holding of these laws in place is a continuos miracle that is responsible for evolution to take place.

  If Time were running in reverse would we know it?

  if "time" is running backwards i dont see how that we would ever know, perhaps some clever physicist could devise an experiment to find out for sure.. some theoreticians have suggested the reason the arrow of time runs from past to future is tied intimately to the expansion of space.

  since einstein special theory of relativity we have come to see that "time", space and speed are all relative.

  we now more correctly speak of "space-time" instead of just space.

  Intro,

  I think it's important to distinguish between whether one knows this stuff in theory or in practice. It's interesting to read about it in theory, but it's very interesting to hear it from someone who has no knowledge of quantum physics describe it in their own language.

  Are you saying you know someone who understands what consciousness really is?

  Syn,

  The cat experiment is not a "real" experiment, it is a metaphor used to explain duality and uncertainty that is fundamental to Quantum mechanics and the strange effect that "observation" has on electrons and photons.

  So I don't think your thought experiment has any real relation to Quantum physics.
